Introduction

Hans Huitink currently works in various hospitals and combines this with teaching and medical consultancy. He has authored numerous articles and is (co-)author of medical books within his fields of interest. He is regarded by peers as an expert in advanced airway management, neuro-anesthesia, and high-fidelity medical simulation. Hans is the founder and director of the Airway Management Academy and a member of the International Advisory Panel of Anesthesia Journal.
He served as the local chair of the second World Airway Management Meeting 2019, held at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Reflecting on the event, he says: “It was a huge success. There were 1,800 participants from over 75 countries. The layout of chairs, spaces, and audiovisual facilities was perfect. It all went smoothly, even though we had our doubts about whether the venue could accommodate so many people.”
