In the year 2025, the Beurs van Berlage will organize numerous social and cultural activities in 2025 to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the city of Amsterdam. With these types of events, the Beurs underlines its role as a place where the rich history of Amsterdam is celebrated and a future of connection is built. During the anniversary year, we will regularly post updates on other special initiatives in the context of Amsterdam 750.
Our contribution
Resto vanHarte
On Monday 13 January, a special anniversary event took place in the iconic Beurs van Berlage: the 20th anniversary of Resto VanHarte. This anniversary was celebrated with an inspiring conference and a festive dinner, where hundreds of Amsterdammers came together in the spirit of connection and solidarity.
Resto VanHarte, a foundation that fights loneliness by organising accessible dinners for vulnerable target groups, provided a wonderful example of the social events that the Beurs van Berlage facilitates with this event. These activities emphasise the role of the Beurs as a place where connection and inspiration are central.
More information about this event can be found here.

Vriendenconcerten
Art, according to the Amsterdam architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage (1856-1934), should do much more than just please and surprise: art should express what lives in society, or should live. Berlage’s great-grandson, cabaret artist and writer Vincent Bijlo, inherited Berlage’s idea that art should say something about the world we live in, from his ancestor.
In this ‘Gesamtkunst’ performance in De Beurs – a crown jewel of Berlage’s oeuvre – great-grandfather, great-grandson and a quintet of passionate celebrated musicians were connected by space, text and music.

Elephant Parade
From 19 May to 30 June 2025, Amsterdam will be the setting for the colourful Elephant Parade, a travelling open-air exhibition in honour of the elephant, in honour of its 750th anniversary.
No fewer than 15 life-size elephants will shine on the Beursplein, sponsored by the business association BIZ Dam-Damrak. In addition, two unique elephants can be admired at Bistro Berlage, the Porcelain Patchwork will be on display on the steps of the Bistro and the Harlequin Beetle will be on display on the bar inside.
