WorldPride Conference 2026 Officially Confirmed at the Beurs van Berlage
It’s official: the prestigious WorldPride Conference on LGBTQIA+ Rights 2026 will take place at the Beurs van Berlage. Today, on Valentine’s Day – the day of love – the collaboration between the organiser, Pride Amsterdam, and our iconic venue was officially confirmed in Amsterdam.
The choice for the Beurs van Berlage is a natural one. The conference theme, UNITY, seamlessly aligns with the philosophy of architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage, who once said: “A single brick is nothing, but together, they create something extraordinary.” This idea perfectly reflects the core mission of the conference: bringing people together, fostering connections, and building a more inclusive future.
“With WorldPride 2026, the City of Amsterdam has a unique opportunity to once again inspire the world with a story of hope and progress at a time when our hard-won rights are under pressure everywhere. Now that the venue is secured, our advisory board can take the next steps towards creating an outstanding programme,” said Lucien Spee de Castillo Ruiz, Executive Director of Pride Amsterdam & WorldPride 2026.
The Beurs van Berlage has long been intertwined with key moments in the fight for equal rights. In 2001, Amsterdam made history as the first city in the world to officiate a same-sex civil marriage, conducted by Job Cohen. Just a year later, the same Job Cohen presided over another landmark ceremony – the civil wedding of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, held at the Beurs van Berlage, in the heart of his Amsterdam. This makes the venue not only historically significant but also a powerful symbol of progress and inclusion.
