After 23 inspiring years, Michiel says goodbye
After over two decades of commitment and leadership, Michiel Lindenbergh is bidding farewell to Beurs van Berlage. Michiel began his career at Beurs van Berlage with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, which was one of the building’s tenants at the time. Following the privatisation of Beurs van Berlage in 2008, he tirelessly worked to transform the venue into a leading centre for conferences and events, both nationally and internationally.
During his 23 years at Beurs van Berlage, Michiel played a pivotal role in developing various initiatives that have reshaped the conference market in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. He was a board member and co-founder of the Dutch Venue Association, a long-standing board member and chair of the conference platform at CLC Vecta, an active member of ICCA, and founding father and chairman of Unique Venues of Amsterdam. His efforts have significantly contributed to putting Amsterdam — and Beurs van Berlage — firmly on the global map of event venues.
As Commercial Director, Michiel successfully built and led the commercial team for many years, making a significant impact on the strategic direction and competitiveness of Beurs van Berlage. Under his guidance, Beurs van Berlage evolved into a ‘one-stop shop’ for conferences and events, offering clients a comprehensive range of services, from catering to hotel accommodation, resulting in a notable increase in customer satisfaction.
In his recent role as Special Projects Director, Michiel Lindenbergh focused on establishing the Stichting Palazzo Pubblico Amsterdam. This foundation aims to secure grants, sponsorships, donations, and funding to organise social, public, and cultural activities, as well as finance restoration projects. Through these initiatives, the foundation helps to keep the Beurs van Berlage national monument accessible and in excellent condition for the public.
Marcel C.B. Schonenberg, General Director: “The Beurs van Berlage and its community are deeply grateful to Michiel for his years of service and dedication. His influence will continue to be felt in the ongoing growth and success of Beurs van Berlage. We wish Michiel all the best for the future”.
