In conversation with former intern Seppe IJzermans

An internship at the Beurs van Berlage offers many opportunities. You immediately become part of the Beurs team and are given opportunities to develop yourself. Your tasks are varied, and you will soon have the freedom to set up your own projects. Former intern Seppe IJzermans talks about his experiences at the Beurs van Berlage:

‘I started my career at the Bistro as a waiter. I helped out for a day as a temporary worker and after that day I was immediately asked to join the team. Because I found it a very pleasant and welcoming workplace, I accepted and I certainly don’t regret it.

At one point, I had to do an internship for my studies. Because I thought the Beurs was a very good employer and was curious about what office work was like, I asked if I could join the marketing department. This was approved with great enthusiasm.

Although I had been working in the restaurant for two years, I knew very few people in the office. It still felt like a new workplace to me. Despite this, I noticed that everyone was very friendly, did their best to get to know me, and I never felt like I was just an intern. I had a great time here and was allowed to work very independently. With the trust of my colleagues, I was able to undertake many projects and set up a number of great ones.

I had a very enjoyable and educational internship. In the end, my immediate colleagues were just as pleased with my efforts as I was with my internship, and I was offered a part-time job alongside my studies. I seized that opportunity with both hands, and now I am a Junior Marketing Executive. I am very curious to see what this period will bring me.
