On Thursday, September 28th, the Charity Lustrum Gala of the Princess Máxima Foundation took place in the Beurs van Berlage. This special evening marked the center's five-year anniversary and was attended by Queen Máxima.
The evening was presented by ambassador, Chantal Janzen. Milestones achieved over the past 5 years were discussed, but also the urgency to achieve the mission: cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life, as quickly as possible. More than 60 Máxima employees helped on their evening off as volunteers to make the evening a success.
During the evening there was a varied program with performances by ambassadors of the Máxima: Maan, Anita Meyer and DJs Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Jaap Reesema, Roel van Velzen, Anouk, the Ukrainian state ballet, the Friends of Amstel live band, 40 children from the New Amsterdam Children’s Choir and comedian Sophie van Hoytema also performed selflessly. Two special contributions this evening came from survivor Mick Krouwels, who shared his personal story about perseverance in an interview with Chantal. And as a dazzling start to the auction, Jeroen ‘the sponsored runner’ came running from the Máxima to the Beurs van Berlage. No less than 46 km, a great achievement. A mention on his headband was the first thing people in the audience could bid on. It was an evening you will never forget.
Thanks to the efforts of everyone present, the fantastic amount of € 4,523,645 was raised. The proceeds from the anniversary gala will go to projects in the field of talent development and immunotherapy.
The Beurs van Berlage, together with its partners Faber, Ampco Flashlight Rental, Maison van den Boer, Héman Horecaverhuur and ISG Security Nederland, is extremely proud that we have been able to make such a wonderful contribution and have jointly ensured that this unforgettable event the Beurs van Berlage could have taken place.
