The Amsterdam CTO Symposium 2021 is cancelled. The number of COVID infections has increased exponentially in recent weeks. During the last two weeks new restrictions have been issued by our and other EU-governments. In addition, the newly discovered Omicron variant has appeared since last weekend, intensifying constraints. This severely incapacitates national and international traffic, limiting the continuity of our meeting in its current form. We are unable to provide the educational value, nor the international diversity, quality and social atmosphere that ACTOS is known for. A meeting within the present boundaries does not align with our identity. We hope you understand our decision to cancel the meeting and hope to see you at a next edition. The symposium that was supposed to take place in December 2020, was postponed to December 2021. The cardiology community has become more and more involved in the treatment of this intriguing as well as complex anatomic lesion within the field of interventional cardiology. A lot of innovative materials such as microcatheters, double lumen catheters, the cross-boss stingray device together with new, dedicated CTO wires adding improved technology entered the armamentarium of the interventionalist. Together with strategy algorithms such as the hybrid approach this resulted in higher success rates and lower complication rates over the last years. You will get acquainted with the basics as well as high-end techniques of PCI CTO from reading an angiogram, antegrade wire escalation to planning a retrograde procedure. The invited CTO experts will give short presentations on key steps within the different approaches and the materials used during PCI CTO. We hope for an educational, interactive and above all fun course!
