The events industry has faced major challenges recently. From one day to the next, the doors of nearly all event venues in the country were closed. This also applied to the Amsterdam Conference Centre Beurs van Berlage, situated in the historic city centre of Amsterdam. For more than two months it was deafeningly silent in the monumental halls of the normally bustling and lively event location. To be able to host safe events again, the event location focuses on innovation by means of various Safe Meeting concepts.
Just like the entire industry, the Beurs van Berlage has also fully responded to the developments surrounding the corona virus. Although it was quiet in our halls, we and our partners worked hard on new guidelines and technological developments. Together we remain committed to organising events with the same luxurious appearance as before. We remain convinced that we will continue to make an important contribution to facilitating personal meetings in the city of Amsterdam.
Most importantly, these meetings must take place safely and responsibly. Keeping sufficient distance is paramount. The space we can offer at the Beurs van Berlage is unique in the centre of the capital. For example, our Grote Zaal is the largest in terms of area in the city centre and a total of 16.000 m2 of hall space is available in the Beurs van Berlage. This makes it possible to safely receive larger groups for Safe Meetings and Safe Dinners.
The ability to facilitate meetings in a safe way is further supported by a new app we are developing. This app will inform guests about the best route to the Beurs, which entrance to take at what time, where to have lunch, which places in the Beurs to avoid if it gets too busy, how to safely go from one session to the next, and even provide the ability to virtually participate in an event when a session is too full.
With the new concept Beurs van Berlage Virtual Live Events we also offer the possibility to expand live events with a virtual experience. During this hybrid event, guests will virtually visit the Beurs, designed by master architect Berlage. During his virtual visit, every guest will of course also receive the 5-star service for which the Beurs van Berlage is known.
Although the corona crisis has hit the events sector hard, this crisis also shows that the sector is innovative and is responding quickly to rapidly changing measures and guidelines.
